Kim Kardashian wears maang tikka again, slammed online for cultural appropriation-TV

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian found herself in another controversy after she decided to wear traditional Indian jewelry Maang Tikkah while looking for photos she had posted online. Shortly after Kim posted her post on Instagram and Twitter, she was deeply moved to embrace a different culture on both platforms.

The pictures show Kim with a grey top and a set of maxi skirts, with a golden Maang Tikka and matching patchwork bracelets to complete her picture.

One Twitter user even suggested that Kim would consider making a donation to countries where she is inspired by fashion. Now that you’ve stolen South Asian culture to fit your aesthetic, why don’t you donate to these countries if you value their culture so much, said Twitter user, Kim.

Now that you’ve stolen South Asian culture to adapt it to your aesthetics, why don’t you make a donation to these countries if you think their culture is so important, Kim?

Another user explained the accessory she was using: If someone is defending this Bindhi/Bindhani, it is because she is half Armenian – (her father was a rich third generation Armenian) Armenians do not wear Bindhi/Bindhani. Not all brown people wear the same. Bindhi is sacred to the Hindu/Southern Asian cultures.

Several Instagram users also completed the comment section with their opinions. See below.

The Indian user was furious that Kim used his culture as a style. The fact that Kim Kardashian appears in TIKK as a man with a South Asian background makes me angry. My culture is not your aesthetic or your style, so please show some respect and don’t use it as a model. The cultural order is not in order, the user has tweeted the screen program of Kim Instagram’s contribution.

What bothers me is that Kim Kardashian in TIKK is a man with a South Asian background.

Kim has often been beaten for abuse of culture in her various public speeches and photo shoots. Last year she was charged with embezzlement when she wore a Maang Tikka to Sunday services. In the picture Kim was dressed in a long white dress with a golden Maang Tikka on her forehead. She painted a picture for Vibe’s Sunday shift. While some congratulated Kim on her outfit by giving her two million points for sympathy for the film, most accused her of hijacking Indian culture.
